A small figure peeked her head out from behind the tall man she was clinging to. She watched curiously the people her father was speaking to. The little girl wasn't paying much attention to the adults. Those two would talk often, sometimes for hours on end. The thing that had caught the little Cynthia's attention the most was the young boy standing next to the familiar man her father was speaking with. The boy looked older than Cynthia by about a year or two, making him seem about eleven or twelve. He was silent while the adults spoke. He had his arms crossed and a rather serious look on his face for a kid of his age. Cynthia couldn't help but stare at him somewhat, not noticing how blatantly obvious it was. He seemed so different to the other kid's she knew. Cynthia couldn't help but be curious about him. Looking up, his emerald eyes caught hers, noticing her staring. She had been busted. He just looked away as if he hadn't noticed, or rather, didn't care.
"Alright. Then everything is settled."
Cynthia curiously looked up at her father. He looked strong and well built for his age. Appearing to look no more than his early fifties. His green eyes were a slightly darker shade than Cynthia's lively emeralds.
"Cynthia." Richard looked down at the small Lunarian princess. She noticed the man and boy were now looking at her. She nervously started to tug on her cerulean dress. She didn't like the attention being focused on her.
"Yes Father?"
The strong and powerful voice of her father demanded her attention. She focused on her father, although she was tempted to look at the boy. She didn't want to be rude..
"I want you to show Kagen around the castle while Elden and I discuss with Alexander about his training"
"Sure thing dad"
Backing away from King Richard to do a quick curtsey, she walked over to Kagen. Quickly glancing at Kagens father, the phrase 'like father like son' came to mind. The two had similar expressions, which made Cynthia want to giggle, however, remembering her manners, she retained her poise. Cynthia noted that Elden had quite distinctive hair, which was much darker than what was considered typical lunarian hair. However, Cynthia noted than Kagen's hair was no darker than her own, which she assumed was from his mothers side.
"Good. Dinner is at the usual time. Try not to be late and bring Kagen with you"
With that, the two adults were gone. Elden followed silently behind the king, constantly remaining a footstep or two behind him. Cynthia watched with amusement as a servant standing at the door noticed the king coming towards him suddenly, quickly running to the door and opening it, visibly flustered . Playfully, Cynthia sang "Someone is gonna get in trouble". Kagen couldn't help but smile, almost forgetting who he was with, before coughing and returning to his usual expression.
Spinning around on her toes, Cynthia smiled at the boy. She didn't think he would mind if she was informal
"My name is Cynthia Scarafina. It's nice to meet you."
"Kagen. It's a pleasure to meet you princess." he replied with a bow.
"So your father mentioned training, are you going to become a member of the royal guard?"
"It would seem that way."
"That's cool. I guess we'll be seeing each other quite a bit then"
"We'll see"
Cynthia was curious, Kagen was nothing like the other boys his age. He was mysterious, which made Cynthia want to spend time with him. She looked at him, noticing his position. His arms were crossed, with a rather serious look on his face. Kagen was looking around, taking in his surroundings.
"Something wrong?" She asked curiously.
"No, why?" He seemed a little confused by her question.
"You look so serious" She teased, smiling
She leaned in towards him a little while having her hands behind her back. She was rocking back and forth on her heels slightly. It was obvious Cynthia was being silly, although she was curious about his answer
"Are you always like this?" She cocked her head to the side
"You could say that." He bluntly responded, turning to the side as if to signify that the conversation was over
This time it was Kagen that seemed intrigued by the young princess. She hadn't acted as he expected. Defiantly not in the typical princess manner, rather, favouriting informal language and gestures. She had even called the king "dad".
Cynthia wasn't sure what to think. Usually it was the adults that were the serious ones, not young boys.. Still, her father had asked her to show him around and Cynthia had agreed to. He wouldn't be happy if she suddenly backed out of it now. It also wouldn't be very nice to Kagen. She put one hand on her cheek with her other hand under her elbow. Cynthia was trying to think of a good place to start showing around Kagen. What to pick that was nearby.
"We should get going. Dinner is in a few hours and there is a lot of stuff to show you. We'll go this way. I can show you the kitchen on the way to visit my mother"
Cynthia motioned to the door in the opposite direction her father and Elden had left through.
"Your mother? You mean Queen Serial? Won't she rather we not disturb her?"
The tall and somewhat stubby male Lunarian servant had already opened the door for Cynthia as she walked towards it. She stopped and turned around after hearing Kagen.
"Yes. She won't mind. If anyone get's in trouble it will be me"
"I don't want you to get into trouble with your parents"
"You won't. Promise"
"Fine."
Cynthia continued walking with Kagen following behind her. Like Elden, Kagen always followed slightly behind her and never walked ahead of her. Soon enough there was a small click of the door being closed behind them and a now bored looking Lunarian servant fixing up his shirt.
